Students sketched a still life of objects in the Seeing and Drawing class. After they drew several thumbnail sketches for composition, they chose one sketch that they liked and enlarged it onto their final format. A background was added to finish their artwork. The class covered composition , shading and colored pencil technique.

Student painted her Yorkshire Terrier puppy in preparation for the fundraiser for Miracle Child Network and Haven Friends for Life No Kill Animal Shelter to be held at the Southern Pines park April 30th. Students who participate in the project will have their artwork exhibited at the Joy of Art Studio the night before. Cards will be made from artwork and sold at the fundraiser. Home- school students sketched in front of the painting Three Trees and Two Clouds by John Beerman. They attended an art camp for five days which included the study of several artists through creative projects, visual material, games and discussions as a renforcement in the learning proess. At the end of the week, students toured the North Carolina Museum of Art. The art camp will be repeated this summer.
